The International Women’s Group-Kuwait held its first meeting of the 2021-2022 cultural season on Sunday, September 19 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The Executive Board were delighted to welcome members with white roses and sweets to mark the return of in-person gatherings.
In an opening speech, Mrs. Laila Boulos, public relations coordinator, introduced Mrs. Ambreen Mustafa, wife of the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and current IWG Presidential Advisor. In her welcome speech, Mrs. Mustafa thanked the IWG Board members for their support during the difficult period of the pandemic and added that this meeting was the first physical meeting after a year of online meetings. Mrs. Mustafa then introduced Mrs. Cristiana Baldocci, wife of the Ambassador of Italy to the State of Kuwait, as the new President of the International Women’s Group 2021-2022.
Mrs. Baldocci welcomed members and guests and expressed her thanks for their participation in the event. She also extended her thanks and gratitude to Her Excellency Sheikha Hanouf Badr Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, Honorary President of IWG, for her role in supporting the group.
The celebration continued with several recreational activities, including a presentation about activities and events held during thepast year, followed by short film of members each expressing their concept of happiness. The ‘Laugh out Loud’ project which was suggested and prepared by Mrs. Clethe Gubler, wife of the Ambassador of the Swiss Federation, and IWG Advisor, in partnership with Ms. Manar Alamat, Website & Social Networks Coordinator, was a very popular project that involved the entire membership.
To mark the end of their tenure, Mrs. Hoda Al-Zahem, Procurement Coordinator, and Mrs. Kawthar Saad, Media Coordinator, were thanked and honored for their many years of service.
Ms Nancy Al-Safadi performed some delightful musical pieces on the violin that radiated joy and happiness.
Four prizes were drawn for the attendees, and everyone enjoyed an array of special canapes and pastries prepared specifically for the occasion by the chefs of the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
