IWG was created for the promotion of culture, tradition and knowledge sharing between its members through a variety of events such as excursions, national/cultural day celebrations, presentations, meetings and other social events.
IWG was founded in 1989 by a distinguished group of ladies headed by Mrs Hanneke Veling, wife of the Dutch Ambassador to Kuwait. The group was keen to promote friendship and co-operation between women of all nationalities living in Kuwait. The objective was to organize and develop a variety of truly international activities for a group of international ladies. Their imprint and outstanding dedication kept this group alive and vibrant for years, through rough times, occupation, war, and liberation. We are indebted to our founders for setting the highest standards and we endeavour to follow in their footsteps.
Our group’s mission to bring together distinguished ladies from around the world with many of their Kuwaiti peers has enabled us to become an important path of friendship between international ladies and local Kuwaiti ladies and also amongst diplomatic circles. Today we are honored to stand as the leading social group dedicated to the promotion and celebration of cultural and traditional differences amongst the many different nationalities of ladies in Kuwait.
