Under the patronage of H.E Sheikha Hanouf Bader Al Muhamad Al Sabah, spouse to H.E Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honorary President of the International Women’s Group- Kuwait (IWG) celebrated the 60th anniversary of Independence and the 30th anniversary of Liberation Day in a virtual program. Mrs. Ambreen Mustafa, the spouse of the Ambassador of the Republic of Pakistan and president of IWG, delivered the welcome speech and congratulated the State of Kuwait, citizens, and residents on this auspicious occasion. Mrs. Layla Boulos, IWG PR Coordinator, acted as master of ceremonies. The event commenced with the National anthem orchestrated by Saint John’s Scout. Sheikha Hanouf, in her taped speech, praised the efforts of the international community for their support during the liberation of the State of Kuwait and commemorated women martyrs for their invaluable role in the liberation of Kuwait and their sacrifice for the sake of peace and prosperity for future generations. She thanked the IWG for service to the community and bringing awareness to the special attributes of Kuwait’s society and cultural activities and concluded by stressing that Kuwait will always be an oasis for humanity and prosperity and will continue to be the land of peace and friendship.The virtual event included a presentation about Kuwait’s participation with the International Space program by Dr. Bassam Al Faili and Prof. Leila Vali congratulated the two lead students on the Kuwait team, Omar Kammourieh and Mahlak Abdulla, for their outstanding project which entailed sending bacteria into space to be used in an experiment on how to reduce the effect of carbon dioxide on our planet. Ms. Quamar Al-Mumin, a young Kuwaiti poet delivered a sonnet on women empowerment and Chef Sadeqa Esmael from Dar Hamad restaurant presented a step-by-step method for making a national Kuwaiti dish. IWG’s Kuwait National and Liberation Day celebration event concluded with special thanks to the distinguished guests, volunteers, online participants, and the IWG board members for making the event a great success.
