The Kuwait College of Science and Technology hosted members of the International Women’s Group (IWG) in Kuwait on a friendly visit to the university campus. The IWG group consist of the ambassadors’ wives and the prominent Kuwaiti female icons forming a cultural and social mixture between all nationalities living in Kuwait. IWG aims to promote strong human relations between women in the world and their counterparts in Kuwait, which were woven by Kuwaiti society in the first place.
Professor Khalid Al-Begain, KCST President, welcomed the visiting IWG delegation and the university staff. The visit started with a presentation by the President showcasing the university’s achievements in the scientific and academic domain since it officially operated in 2016.
The visitors visited the many scientific and innovation facilities at the university. The tours included visiting the Auditorium, which can accommodate more than 520 people, the Student Learning Centre and Library. In addition to visiting advanced scientific laboratories such as the MIT-Accredited FabLab, the Cybersecurity Center is the first center specialized in the Middle East, offering courses and workshops in cybersecurity for university and school students. The tour continued with a visit to the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, which hosts many artificial intelligence projects produced and updated at the university. Finally, the visitors viewed numerous innovative Final Year Project demos that caught their attention. They were keen on talking to the students about their projects and expressed their admiration for the scientific way of thinking.
Professor Al-Begain expressed his happiness for hosting the IWG members, especially since it was the first time they visited a university in Kuwait, and that this visit opened up other horizons for learning about education in Kuwait and the extent of the development of current generations concerning technology.
Mrs. Ghada Shawqi, President of the International Women’s Group, stated her delight with this visit and added: “We thank Professor Khalid Al-Begain and all those in charge of the university for having us. We have seen and were impressed with all this development in the scientific laboratories in Kuwait. We wish the university to keep excelling to more progress and prosperity academically and educationally.
Mrs. Rima Khaled, the President Advisor, confirmed that the developments witnessed by the university are source of pride and that the achievements made by the university in a short period in general and students’ Final Year Projects, in particular, are a testament to the extent of Kuwait’s care for education, which gives hope that the Kuwaiti youth today, are the leaders of the future.
