The International Women’s Group (IWG), in collaboration with the Embassy of Mongolia in Kuwait, hosted “Mongolian Cultural Day” on November 10, 2024, under the theme “Women’s Involvement in Saving the World.” Held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the event gathered Kuwait’s diplomatic community, officials, and IWG members, all dressed in white to symbolize purity and peace.
Mrs. Polina Dalmini, IWG President and wife of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Eswatini, thanked the Embassy of Mongolia and IWG Vice President Mrs. Baigal Bayantsagaan, wife of the Mongolian Ambassador, for organizing the event. She highlighted women’s contributions to peace and community resilience, noting that events like these foster unity, cultural exchange, and support among women.
Ambassador of Mongolia H.E. Sergelen Purev expressed his “honour and privilege” in welcoming attendees to this celebration of Mongolian heritage, emphasizing the “critical role that women have played and continue to play in shaping a sustainable and peaceful world.” He shared Mongolia’s “deep-rooted connections to our environment and livestock,” a heritage of nomadic life, and historical innovations such as the 13th-century postal system and the first passport, Gerege.
Ambassador Purev also underscored the revered role of women in Mongolian society, explaining that the white dress code symbolized “the women’s pure, white heart.” As guests arrived, they were greeted with a traditional blue scarf, or khadag, symbolizing “respect, purity, goodwill, and honour.”
Interactive stations at the event showcased Mongolian culture through artifacts, games, luxury cashmere, cuisine, and the traditional Deel clothing. Models walked the runway in intricately designed Deels, highlighting Mongolia’s cultural beauty.
The event concluded as a powerful celebration of cultural heritage and women’s contributions to peace, offering attendees a memorable journey into Mongolia’s rich traditions.
