On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the International Women’s Group dedicated an event to women’s health and held a symposium in collaboration with the Al Jarallh German Specialized Center entitled ‘TOGETHER WE CAN END CERVICAL CANCER’.
The World Health Organization ranks cervical cancer second among the most common cancers that infect and cause deaths among women around the world. In her opening remarks, IWG president, Cristiana Balducci, stressed that it is imperative we work together as a community to raise awareness of the condition and how to prevent it. She welcomed Dr. Ali Zadeh, CEO of the Center and Dr. Maamoun Al-Qaseer, a Consultant Clinical Virologist who explained the risks of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection and the importance of early detection; confirming that the HPV vaccine has proven to be highly effective in preventing infection.
In closing, Mr. Mehrdad Zadeh, board member of Al Jarallh German Specialized Center, thanked the IWG for the opportunity to raise awareness of the condition and the center’s vaccination and early detection programs.
In recognition of their invaluable contribution to this important symposium, the Center was presented with a commemorative shield on behalf of the IWG board and its members.
